Viviana
Viviana is clearly very passionate about her craft as chef and business owner! Plus, as Mónica's cousin, she is VERY familiar with our kind of crazy. We chat with Vivi to discover the magic behind culinary culture. She attempts to explain how food is the language of traditions and generations. She relates how cooking became a form of affection from our stoic grandmother. Puertorican culture is complicated and convoluted. Our family traditions even more, but, if you eat our food, you may understand it all a little better.

& Lucky Cousin of Mónica
Viviana was born and raised in Puerto Rico to a family of traditional cooks and bakers and has been working in the food industry for over 20 years. After spending years as a food editor and recipe developer in NYC and as Executive Chef aboard a private yacht on the Caribbean, she created Gastropolita, a catering and private chef company she runs from my workshop in San Juan. She has been been teaching locals and visitors about the art of Puerto Rican cooking and our traditional island flavors.
